Many times I have spoken to people that suddenly cant figure out why their camera stopped working suddenly in the summer time. Its been a long day so I am going to make this short and sweet. Remember, digital cameras are electronics with tiny wires and connections that can measure in microns, and these tiny wires are connected to circuit boards with solder. A closed car is like a greenhouse and temperatures can exceed 130 degrees in minutes, can you imaging what that will do to fragile electronics after hours of exposure? Please, no matter where you are remember to bring your camera, as well as your cell phone, GPS and other electronics inside. Consumer Reports posted a blog entry about the topic that shows temperatures at 168 degrees, the human body starts to shot down at 106 degrees. Sensitive electronic equipment cannot handle much more. Excessive heat can also warp the metal zoom barrels in lenses, causing them to have trouble focusing. Take care of your gear, keep it cool.

Welcome To Shoot. Edit. Publish. This site has been created to educate you on all things imaging. Being industry professionals, we have noticed that in the real world, many industries are tied together. On the internet and in the classrooms of today’s schools, media dexterity is not often taught the way it should be. There have been many times a photographer didn’t provide a file with enough resolution to print a banner, or white balance was so far off that digital pre-press techs had to spend hours on color correction and test printing.

In the world of video production, I can’t even count the number of times that a producer has complained about not having enough resolution, or the wrong format. When a producer gets three tapes handed in and has to go live in 30 minutes, they will use the content that requires the least editing.

This site is dedicated to educating on technique, editing, workflow, dealing with editors, shooting for a target size and format, and anything else that is necessary to progress in the world of imaging today.

If you have a question, I want you to be able to find the answer here, and avoid possible embarrassment and loss of income.

The site is new, and live as of April 2, 2009. At this moment I am working on a number of topics for upcoming articles, as well arranging guest writers from all aspects of imaging. Shoot.Edit.Publish. will continue to grow from its small, ten-article opening, every single week. Please sign up for e-mail updates or to our RSS feed to keep track of whats going on.
